Divine Win for North Augusta Lottery Player

COLUMBIA, SC (November 1, 2013) – A $300,000 Palmetto Cash 5 ticket reported unclaimed by the South Carolina Education Lottery this week was claimed, but not for $300,000.

The winner actually won $300,033 on a ticket that paid tribute to her favorite Bible verses.

Palmetto Cash 5 tickets are $1 each, but this ticket was purchased for several advance drawings because the winner lives out of state. She picked three rows of five numbers herself and quick picked a fourth line, then “Powered-Up” for an extra $1 per play.

The winner says that’s how she plays Palmetto Cash 5 and has for eight years.

A row of Bible verses won her the game’s $300,000 top prize on September 28 (1, 4, 5, 13, and 19 Power-Up: 3).

The multi draw ticket combined other wins for matching three numbers once and two numbers in eight other drawings resulting in the $33 prize.

“This is so fantastic,” the winner said. “The first thing I did was tithe to the church.”

The couple is saving the rest for retirement.

Players can purchase Palmetto Cash 5 tickets for up to 40 consecutive drawings with a maximum of five plays per ticket. Players do not have to wait until all drawings have been completed to cash in their tickets. The Lottery will reissue a ticket with remaining draws.

The odds of winning $300,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,606,214.

For selling the claimed ticket, Greg’s Gas Plus 13 in North Augusta received a commission of $3,000.33.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.2 billion transferred to support education.
