COLUMBIA, SC (June 27, 2013) – A Fort Jackson civilian worker, who had never played the South Carolina Education Lottery before, is $200,000 richer after giving Carolina Cash 6 a try.
The first time player had heard about the new Carolina Cash 6 game and since the drawing was that night he decided to buy a couple of tickets. He told lottery officials he picked six numbers on one ticket and quick picked the other one at the Circle K Stores #5137 on Two Notch Rd.
The computer pick did it, matching 3, 8, 13, 20, 23, and 33 for the Monday, June 24 drawing.
“Is this a joke?” he wondered when he checked the numbers.
He went back to the Circle K, and the clerk that sold him the ticket was still on duty. She printed the results and then ran the ticket. He was indeed a $200,000 taxes paid winner.
He called his wife from the station.
“I think we just hit a $200,000 lottery,” he said.
The line went quiet. Finally she asked, “Are you sure?”
The couple is going to buy a retirement home with the winnings.
A six-number game, Carolina Cash 6’s top prize includes Federal and state taxes which are withheld to net $200,000.
Odds of winning the $200,000 TAXES PAID top prize are 1 in 920,227.
Circle K Stores #5137 in Columbia received a commission of $2,941.43 for selling the claimed ticket. Carolina Cash 6 launched in April of this year, and June has been a winning month with three top prize winning ticket sold.
