Decade Long Drought Ends for Lexington Palmetto Cash 5 Player

COLUMBIA, SC (March 10, 2014) – A Lexington man rose to his feet screaming following the broadcast of Wednesday evening’s lottery results.

A decade’s commitment to a selection of family birth dates finally paid off. All five numbers 7, 11, 20, 25 and 36 printed on his Palmetto Cash 5 ticket were a match worth $200,000.

“I felt relieved that I finally had it,” he told lottery officials awaiting his check.

He says he’s come close to winning the coveted prize three times before, falling short by a single number each time.

An optimist, he kept buying Palmetto Cash 5 tickets, five draws at time, hoping his luck would change.

Today he’s debt free and talking about springing for a family vacation.

Spending the extra buck to Power-Up doubled the Lexington winner’s $100,000 prize to $200,000.

Odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.

For selling the claimed ticket, The Pitt Stop #16 in Lexington received a commission of $2,000.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.3 billion transferred to support education.
