COLUMBIA, SC (January 3, 2013) – Two days into 2013, a Piedmont man has already broken his New Year’s resolution.
“I was going to quit playing the Lottery on the first,” he said.
At the time he was fed up with not winning. His mindset changed on New Year’s Eve when he scratched what he thought would be his last lottery ticket, a $10 Red Hot Cash ticket, outside of the VGO Mart on River Rd. in Piedmont.
He won $200,000.
Yesterday morning, he broke his New Year’s resolution when he stopped to buy a lottery ticket on his way to Columbia to collect his winnings.
“At least now I know the game is not fixed,” he said explaining his decision to keep playing.
As of this release, two top prizes remain in the $10 Red Hot Cash game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 500,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, VGO Mart in Piedmont received a commission of $2,000.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.9 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
