COLUMBIA, SC (December 5, 2014) – The owner of a $1 million Powerball® ticket sold in Florence remains a mystery. No one has come forward to claim the prize drawn back in October on a ticket sold at the Phoenix Mart at 2698 W. David McLeod Blvd.
Store Manager Rob Buchner admits it’s odd and speculation is running high as to the winner’s whereabouts.
Buchner’s best guess: “I think it’s someone that travels.”
That makes sense, Phoenix Mart is located just off the intersection of I-20 and I-95.
But the area is also a popular shopping and eating destination, so a local could be sitting on a ticket not yet checked.
“I’ve waited a couple of months to check tickets myself,” Buchner admits.
The winning Powerball® ticket matched the five white ball numbers drawn but missed the red Powerball® number for Saturday, October 25. The winning numbers were 6, 10, 51, 54, 57, and the Powerball® number was 12.
The winner has until April 23, 2015, to claim the $1 million prize before the ticket expires.
The Lottery’s message to the winner: Sign the back of your ticket, keep it in a safe location, and for your safety, be careful who you tell of your win.
The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 5,153,633.
