COLUMBIA, SC (April 18, 2014) – An Irmo man called his wife to tell her he won the Lottery, but she wouldn’t take his word for it.

She asked to speak to the store clerk.

“Please,” he begged the clerk that sold him the ticket. “Tell my wife I won.”

Ashley Mina took the phone and assured the winner’s wife it was real, her husband did win $200,000 at the Pitt Stop #37 on Augusta Hwy. in Lexington.

“As soon as I told her, she started screaming,” said Mina. “They were both screaming.”

The winner and his wife claimed the first top prize of $200,000 in the $10 Maximum Money game this week.

“We are debt free and relieved,” the winner said.

Four $200,000 prizes remain in the game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 600,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Pitt Stop #37 in Lexington received a commission of $2,000.
