Second Chance Wins Goose Creek NASCAR® Fan $100,000

COLUMBIA, SC (May 5, 2014) – A non-winning lottery ticket Brian McMaster scratched last summer won him $100,000 last week.

The Goose Creek resident won the cash in the South Carolina Education Lottery’s FAN-tastic! Second-Chance Promotion.

A big-time race fan, McMaster played the $5 FAN-tastic! game that went on sale in March 2013 showcasing the Darlington Raceway. He entered his losing tickets into a drawing hoping he’d win one of the Special Insider trips to the Daytona 500 or the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington. Instead, his ticket was selected from the more than 87,000 entries received to win the $100,000 grand prize.

“I didn’t believe it,” he said.

It took an email, telephone call, and letter from the Lottery telling him he won before McMaster and his wife were convinced they weren’t being scammed.

“I couldn’t be happier,” McMaster said seated with his wife in Columbia on Friday awaiting their check for $68,000 after taxes.

“I’m still getting goose bumps,” his wife said.

The couple plans to pay off their house with the winnings.
