COLUMBIA, SC (June 12, 2014) – William Wright plays the Lottery for fun, and Friday was an absolute hoot for the retiree.

The Sun City resident’s Palmetto Cash 5 numbers won him $200,000.

“I’ve played every day for five years,” he said, buying tickets at the Enmark Stations #842 on Commerce Place E. in Bluffton. He went back to the store to see Amanda Wrisley, the assistant manager that sold him the winning ticket, to tell her the good news.

“He was really excited,” Wrisley said. “Bill is one of our favorite people.”

Wrisley called Pam Harrison, the store’s manager, at home to tell her Wright won.

“We love him here,” Harrison said. “He is very deserving.”

Wright says the ladies at the store are like family to him. He enjoys stopping in to socialize and taking a chance on a lottery ticket.

While he admits he never thought he’d win big, just in case he spends the extra $1 on Power-Up. That extra buck doubled his $100,000 prize to $200,000.

“Winning was fun,” he said again.

Odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.

For selling the claimed ticket, Enmark Stations #842 in Bluffton received a commission of $2,000.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.4 billion transferred to support education.
