Anderson Woman in No Rush to Claim $200,000 Lottery Win

COLUMBIA, SC (June 1, 2012) – For an Anderson woman, winning $200,000 on a lottery ticket had a calming effect.

The six-figure payday didn’t draw a scream, only silence in her bedroom where she sat holding the ticket. Unbelievable to her, she conquered the 1 in 456,000 odds on the $200,000 Cash Celebration ticket to take the game’s last remaining top prize.

She locked the ticket away and a week later turned it over to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“I wasn’t in a hurry,” she admitted. She shared she knew the money would be there when she was ready, and she was ready.

She declined to share her plans or release her name, but was grateful.

“I’ve never won anything,” she said. She can’t say that anymore.

She purchased the $10 $200,000 Cash Celebration scratch-off from the Bi-Lo #27 on S. Main St. in Anderson. For selling the claimed ticket, Bi-Lo #270 received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.7 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
