COLUMBIA, SC (May 23, 2013) – A Hartsville area mom bought a lottery ticket at the Short Trip 7 on Oates Hwy. in Lamar and an hour and half later was at the Lottery’s Columbia Claims Center to collect her $200,000 prize.
Feeling overwhelmed, excited and nervous all at the same time, she told lottery officials the $200,000 Jackpot ticket winnings are a down payment on a new home.
“I’m going to surprise the kids later,” she said.
As of this release, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the ($10) $200,000 Jackpot game. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 600,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Short Trip 7 received a commission of $2,000.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
