COLUMBIA, SC (December 19, 2012) – Instead of throwing her losing lottery ticket in the trash, a Charleston woman’s decision to hang onto her ticket has paid off.
Turns out, the seemingly worthless ticket had value—$200,000.
It wasn’t until she got home from the Northbridge Exxon on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. with the $10 Platinum Payout 25X scratch-off that she realized her mistake.
The second look is erasing her car payment and then some.
“It is a habit of mine to look at the ticket again,” the winner told lottery officials.
Good advice.
As of this release, one top prize remains in the $10 Platinum Payout 25X game. Odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 500,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Northbridge Exxon in Charleston received a commission of $2,000.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.9 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
