COLUMBIA, SC (July 30, 2012) – A Sumter man, who has played the same five numbers for 10 years, has won $200,000.

Winning felt so good he started dancing.

The winner told lottery officials his eyes lit up when he saw his Palmetto Cash 5 numbers (7, 9, 12, 29, and 35) drawn last Thursday. Paying the extra $1 for Power-Up doubled his $100,000 top prize to $200,000.

“I feel happy,” he said. “But I’ve tried not to get so happy where people will notice.”

The winner and his wife plan to keep their win and plans private. The winner did say he will continue playing Palmetto Cash 5 and is considering retiring his lucky numbers.

“I doubt those numbers will come back out,” he said. “Then again, you never know.”

The odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.

For selling the claimed ticket, Tanners LLC in Sumter received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
