Laurens Man Keeps a $200,000 Secret

COLUMBIA, SC (July 16, 2012) – A Laurens man who has won big before playing the South Carolina Education Lottery has done it again.

He helped his family out with a five figure win several years ago. Last week he collected $200,000 for himself.

“I’m not telling anyone,” he said.

The winner purchased two $200,000 Hot Streak tickets from the Harvest Market at 1200 Greenwood Rd. in Laurens and scratched the tickets at home. He was disappointed he didn’t win anything on the first ticket, but the second ticket had him reaching for his glasses.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he said, shaking his head.

Since he spent his previous lottery winnings on others, he’s going to do a few things for himself this time, starting with some needed repairs to his home.

“I feel good,” he said.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 480,000.

As of this release, three top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $200,000 Hot Streak game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Harvest Market in Laurens received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
