Wallace Woman Shocked to Find Out Ticket is Worth $200,000

COLUMBIA, SC (January 13, 2012) – A Wallace woman knew her lottery ticket was worth something, but she didn’t know how much.

$200,000 was more than she imagined.

She broke down and cried when lottery officials broke the news.

“Oh my, thank you,” she said wiping away tears.

She told lottery officials she was watching television with her husband when she recognized Tuesday’s Palmetto Cash 5 results (4, 11, 21, 25, and 36) as the dates and ages she’s played on and off for years.

Eager to find out what she won, she went to cash the ticket at a retailer, who told her she would need to take it to Columbia. The prize was never mentioned.

“I had no idea,” she said overcome with joy.

When asked how much she thought she won, she said “a little bit of money.”

Her expectations were exceeded, in part, because she Powered-Up for an additional $1. Power-Up doubled her $100,000 winnings to $200,000 when a “2” multiplier was drawn.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 1,003,884.

Corner Cupboard #1 in Wallace received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
