COLUMBIA, SC (June 8, 2012) – A Pawleys Island lottery winner is calling a roofer. Following a $250,000 win, she can afford to hire an electrician and plumber too.
The winner told lottery officials fixing up her home had been a dream of hers which was realized last week when she purchased a $10 scratch-off from the Hot Spot #1103 on Ocean Hwy. in Pawleys Island.
“I was in shock,” she said, describing how she reached for her glasses to make sure she was really seeing a quarter-million-dollar payday.
She drove straight home and met her daughter in the driveway. Her daughter slipped the Pyramid Riches ticket between the pages of her Bible. To calm down the two went for a drive. The conversation turned to her leaky roof and how she won’t have to worry the next time it rains.
“I’ve been praying for this,” the winner said.
As of this release, one top prize of $250,000 remains in the $10 Pyramid Riches game.
The odds of winning $250,000 are 1 in 576,000.
Hot Spot #1103 in Pawleys Island received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.7 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
