COLUMBIA, SC (September 20, 2012) – What must it feel like to pay off your car and have enough left over to cover your car insurance, the bills that are due and pay ahead on your upcoming bills?

Today a Surfside lottery winner is debt free. One word sums up her feelings.

“Wow!” she said over and over again.

The winner, who did not want to be identified, couldn’t stop smiling while telling lottery officials how she won $100,000 on a $5 Scorchin’ Hot 5’s ticket she scratched while filling up her car at the Turtle Market on Hwy. 707 in Myrtle Beach.

She rushed home to show the ticket to her son, and now she’s paying off his car too.

The winner’s $5 ticket overcame the 1 in 480,000 odds to take the next to the last top prize in the Scorchin’ Hot 5’s game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Turtle Market in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $1,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
