Anderson County Man Follows Wife’s Orders & Wins $200,000

COLUMBIA, SC (August 19, 2011) – An Anderson County man went weak in the knees inside the 81 South Texaco Food Mart in Anderson. He made it to his car and drove the 15 minutes to his wife’s work laughing the whole way.

He held in his hand a South Carolina Education Lottery ticket worth $200,000.

He walked into his wife’s office and closed the door.

“I thought something was wrong, because he looked like he had been crying,” she said.

Those were tears of joy.

He showed her the $200,000 Cash instant ticket and she remembered what she told him that morning when he left the house.

“She told me to go win us $20,000,” he said smiling.

“I was joking when I said it. I can’t believe he went and did 10 times that,” she said.

He told lottery officials he’s won $20,000 before and used the winnings to invest in his business. Some of the $200,000 will go towards his business, but the couple thinks they might take a vacation and splurge a bit with this one.

As of this release, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the ten dollar $200,000 Cash game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 411,428.57.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. 81 South Texaco Food Mart received $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
