Lottery Win Means a Backyard for the Grandkids
St. Andrews BP at 775 St. Andrews Road in Columbia sold the latest ticket worth $200,000.
COLUMBIA, SC (July 18, 2011) – A grandmother’s dream of having a backyard for her grandchildren to play in becomes a possibility after winning $200,000 on $200,000 Cash Inferno.
The Columbia woman, who wished remain anonymous, had a lucky streak last week after winning $500 on a $200,000 Cash Inferno ticket and $290 on Pick 3 playing her daughter’s birthday numbers.
Then, after cashing in a ticket, she decided to purchase another $200,000 Cash Inferno ticket for $10 from the St. Andrews BP located at 775 St. Andrews Road in Columbia. After scratching the ticket, the player couldn’t believe what she was looking at.
“I handed the clerk my ticket for him to scan because I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me,” the player said. “My heart was fluttering and the tears wouldn’t stop after seeing all those numbers.”
The player plans on buying a house with her winnings. “I’ve always wanted a backyard for my grandchildren to play in,” said the winner who has a very large family with two daughters (one of which is attending technical college with the help of Lottery Tuition Assistance), a married son, and four grandchildren.
The $200,000 Cash Inferno ticket launched on Tuesday, July 12. As of this release, four top prizes remain in the game. The odds of winning the $200,000 top prize are 1 in 504,000.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been appropriated to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. St. Andrews BP received $2,000 for selling the winning ticket.
