Columbia Area Plumber Wins $1 MILLION!

COLUMBIA, SC (April 28, 2011) – A Columbia man was surprised twice on Thursday. First when his boss gave him the day off, and then when he won $1 MILLION playing the Lottery.

“I got paid the day before payday,” he laughed. “I was leaning against my car scratching a lottery ticket, and then the car was the only thing that was holding me up.”

Too nervous to drive, the millionaire started making phone calls from the Gaz-Bah #2 on St. Andrews Rd. in Columbia where he bought the Carolina Millionaires Club card.

The area plumber called his wife, who accused him of lying. He called his boss to thank him again for the day off. Then he called a coworker to pick him up and take him to collect his prize.

“He sat on the ticket in car,” shared the driver.

He had a good reason. The millionaire told lottery officials, he won $15 on a ticket once and had it blow out the car window. He never found the ticket. He wasn’t going to let that happen to one worth $1 MILLION, so he sat on it going down the road.

The millionaire has big plans for his winnings. He’s buying a truck this weekend and thinks his wife will want to start looking for a new home.

Will he continue working?

“I told my boss I’ll be at work on Monday,” he said.

The Columbia man is the fourth $1 million winner to come forward. As of this release, only one $1 million top prize remains in the $10 Carolina Millionaires Club game. The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 1,200,000.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Gaz-Bah #2 in Columbia received $10,000.
