Christmas Comes Early for Florence Man

11/18/2010 8:44:14 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (November 17, 2010) – Bobby Jones, of Florence, is probably out shopping for a 50-inch, flat screen television. When he claimed a $200,000 prize from a Greetings of Green instant ticket yesterday, he let slip one sure would look nice hanging in his man cave.

“I spend a lot of time in my garage,” Jones shared. “I like to have friends over and we karaoke, listen to music and have a good time.”

Jones and his friends certainly have reason to celebrate. After scratching the winning ticket inside Petro Stop in Florence, Jones was admittedly emotional.

“I got nervous and teared up,” Jones confessed.

Jones, 65, is retired from the Department of Defense. “If I tell you what I did for a living, I’d have to kill you,” he joked with lottery officials. “I’m usually a calm guy, but when I realized I won $200,000, I wasn’t.”

Greetings of Green is a $10, holiday instant game. As of this release, five top prizes of $200,000 remain in the game. For complete information, visit sceducationlottery.com.

Petro Stop received $2,000 for selling the winning ticket. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000.
