COLUMBIA, SC (June 27, 2008) – Some mornings are just better than others. Just ask Stephen Hayes Sr.

He was sitting in his truck waiting for the gate to open at work and decided to pass the time by scratching a few instant tickets. The fourth ticket he scratched was a keeper.

“He called me this morning and said, ‘Get your clothes on, we’re going to Columbia.’” his wife of going on 33 years said.

Hayes just won $100,000 playing $100,000 Super Cash.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet,” admitted Hayes.

On his way to work at Don’s Car Crushing and Scrap Iron & Metal Co. Inc., Hayes stopped at the Quickshop #1 in Latta where he purchased the ticket. Later he went back to the retailer to confirm the ticket was a winner.

Hayes, a Dillon resident, would like to use the winnings to buy his wife a car and possibly buy himself a fishing boat.

His immediate plans are to head back to work, and this time he plans to drive through the gate.

Launched June 11, $100,000 Super Cash is the South Carolina Education Lottery’s first instant ticket printed on holographic paper.
