COLUMBIA, SC (August 12, 2009) – When Thomas Laprise purchased a $10 Fantastic 5’s instant ticket, he had a good feeling, but was still amazed when the ticket revealed a top prize of $155,555!
“I was so shocked and happy,” the Goose Creek resident said.
Leprise plans to share the prize with his family and hopes to take a nice vacation or two.
The 28-year-old winner purchased his Fantastic 5’s ticket at Big T’s LLC, located at 402 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek. A retailer who sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more receives a 1% selling bonus.
There are five Fantastic 5’s top prizes still left in the game with more than $13 million in total prizes remaining.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2.2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2010. Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
