Columbia, SC: The date, June 6, 2006, is made for conspiracy and end-of-the-world theorists. With the advent of 6/6/06, prophecy theorists and common citizens worry. The date is auspicious for South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) players.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, SCEL’s online vendor, Scientific Games International, reported SCEL had reached its liability on selling the following numbers: 6-6-6, 6-6-0-6, and 6-6-6-6.

“Selling out a set of numbers is not unusual for lottery players,” says Ernie Passailaigue, SCEL’s Executive Director. “Many of our players are superstitious.”

SCEL has a $3.5 million cap on Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers. When the system reaches the capped limit, the system will no longer take wagers on that particular combination. This is not the first time SCEL has reached the capped liability on numbers placed, and triple number combinations are exceptionally popular with Pick 3 players.
