COLUMBIA, SC: Sue Whaley, of Lexington, told her boss she’d be in late on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, so that she could make a trip to the Columbia Claims Center to collect her lottery winnings. She won $250,000 on the South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) instant ticket, $250,000 Taxes Paid!
“It hasn’t hit just yet,” said Whaley. “I plan on buying a house with this money.”
Whaley purchased her instant ticket after buying groceries at the Publix Super Markets #656 on Harbison Boulevard in Columbia.
“I love the Lottery,” Whaley said. “My son is receiving funds from the Lottery. Now he’s transferring to USC.”
SCEL launched $250,000 Taxes Paid in June 2006. As of February 20, 2007, an estimated $12.9 million, including five top prizes, remains unclaimed in the game.
