Columbia, SC: If you are traveling to Georgia on Interstate 85 in the Upstate or Interstate 95 in Jasper or just heading north on Interstate 26, you might just see a billboard with “Million” on it. That’s because Powerball® billboards are being outfitted across the state this week in anticipation of the start of the game on October 5th.
“These billboards were placed along the major arteries of the state,” said SCEL Director of Marketing and Sales. “This will let all South Carolinians, as well as those entering or leaving the state, know what the current jackpot is.”
More than 20 billboards will inform lottery players what the current jackpot is for Powerball®. The minimum jackpot is for the multi-state game is $10 million dollars.
“If a player took the $10 million in one lump sum, they would win at least $19 dollars a minute for a year,” said Koop. “That’s $27,397 dollars a day!”
Not only will you begin to see Powerball® billboards, but as part of the Powerball® launch, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) will be giving away a red “Power Bug.” The Power Bug, a red Volkswagen Super Beetle filled with red balls, will travel to several locations around the state. Participants will have the chance to guess the amount of red balls in the Power Bug. The person with the correct answer will win the car on October 9th.
The lottery has partnered with several radio stations across the state to promote the give-a-way. Each “Power Bug” promotion will begin at 10:30 am. If you can not attend the on-site promotion, a picture of the “Power Bug,” filled with the ping-pong balls will be posted on our website: www.sceducationlottery.com and people can mail in their entries.
The “Power Bug” will be at the following locations from 10:30am-2pm.
