COLUMBIA, SC (February 10, 2023) A Greenville man has given his entire $150,000 Powerball® prize to charity.

The winner, who does not wish to be identified, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials the donation was made to an Upstate charity.

He called the win “exhilarating.”

He missed winning the jackpot by one number on a quick pick ticket purchased at the GT Express Mart at 1800 Easley Bridge Rd. in Greenville for the January 16 drawing (4, 14, 33, 39, 61 and PB: 3). Paying an extra dollar for PowerPlay® tripled his $50,000 win to $150,000.

“I hit enough to make someone happy,” he said.

The odds of winning $50,000 by matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 3X multiplier being selected are 1 in 3.23 when the jackpot is more than $150 million.

For selling the claimed ticket, G T Express Mart in Greenville received a commission of $1,500.
