COLUMBIA, SC (May 4, 2023) – A Rock Hill man could have just thrown away his non-winning lottery ticket, but then he wouldn’t have won $2 million.
Instead he gave his ticket new life by entering it in the Instant Millions Second-Chance Promotion. From the more than 1,400,000 entries received, his non-winning ticket was selected to win a $2 million grand prize.
“I was really surprised,” he said. “I didn’t believe it at first.”
He was at home when he called the South Carolina Education Lottery back and found out his worthless ticket was now worth $2 million. He’d bought the $10 Instant Millions scratch-off months earlier during his 15 minute work break.
“It came right on time,” he said of the win.
As for his plans for the cash, he says he’s going to take it slow and spend his fortune wisely.
