COLUMBIA, SC (May 24, 2023) – When a convenience store in Clemson didn’t have the lottery ticket an Upstate man was looking for, the store staff suggested another ticket that won the customer $200,000.

“It worked out for the best,” the winner happily admitted to South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

He didn’t leave the Sairam Corporation, a Shell Gas Station at 219 Pendleton Rd. in Clemson, disappointed. Turns out the $5 Blue Diamond Dollars scratch-off ticket the clerk at the store chose for him was just what he was looking for.

“I wasn’t expecting it,” the winner, who does not wish to be named, said.  “But it sure was great.”

The winner overcame odds of 1 in 750,000 to win $200,000 in the Blue Diamond Dollars game that has two more top prizes available.

Sairam Corporation in Clemson received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
