COLUMBIA, SC (January 9, 2023) – It’s happened again. The Mega Millions® jackpot is now more than $1 billion. Tuesday’s jackpot is an estimated $1.1 billion with a cash payout of $568 million.
This is the fourth time the Mega Millions® jackpot has exceeded $1 billion. The first was back in October of 2018 when a record Mega Millions® jackpot of $1.5 billion was won in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
In Friday’s drawing players in Simpsonville and Moncks Corner came close to winning it all, matching four of the first five white ball numbers and the gold Megaball® number to win $10,000. The winning tickets were sold at the Spinx #191 at 2601 Woodruff Rd. in Simpsonville and at Parkers #72 at 1105 N. Hwy. 52. in Moncks Corner.
South Carolinians interested in
taking a chance on the $1.1 billion jackpot must purchase their tickets by 10
p.m. before Tuesday’s 11 p.m. drawing.
The South Carolina Education Lottery urges players to play smart by playing
responsibly. It only takes one ticket to win. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1
in 303 million.
Good luck, South Carolina!
