COLUMBIA, SC (May 10, 2022) – A Midlands woman says fate played a part in her $75,000 lottery win.
When she couldn’t change lanes to stop at the store she was planning to, she pulled in at the Cheap Way #2 on N. Main St. in Sumter instead. There she spent $3 on a lottery ticket, scratched it and couldn’t believe her good fortune when she won $75,000.
“I was speechless,” the winner told South Carolina Lottery officials. “I had my husband look at it, and he didn’t believe it either.”
She downloaded the Lottery’s app and scanned the ticket to be sure it was real. When the message told her to claim the prize in Columbia, she knew they’d won big. And the winner is just as excited about her plans, which are to pay off the house.
“Not having a mortgage anymore, that will be a happy day,” she said.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 528,000 to leave three top prizes of $75,000 in the Bingo Squared game.
Cheap Way #2 in Sumter received a commission of $750 for selling the claimed ticket.
