COLUMBIA, SC (January 12, 2021) – An Easley couple’s tradition of giving each other lottery tickets as gifts paid off with a $125,000 win.
Sitting on the sofa on Christmas Eve the husband scratched a $5 Extra Play ticket his wife purchased for him at the Hot Spot #4002 on the J C Calhoun Memorial Hwy. in Easley. He told lottery officials he couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he saw a $125,000 prize. When his wife saw the ticket, she said “Oh, my gosh.”
“It was a very nice Christmas present,” the husband admitted.
The couple says winning the lottery seemed surreal until they were handed a check for their prize money to start 2021.
“It was pretty cool,” said the husband. “We had fun.”
The Easley couple overcame odds of 1 in 750,000 to win $125,000 in the ($5) Extra Play game. One top prize remains in the game.
Hot Spot #4002 in Easley received a commission of $1,250 for selling the claimed ticket.
