COLUMBIA, SC (May 27, 2021) – A lottery ticket given as a Mother’s Day gift won a Florence resident $125,000.
The winner’s father gave his daughter the $5 Carolina Black Ruby ticket to scratch, and the result had both of them celebrating.
“It was crazy,” said the winner. “You see all the things you can do flash before your eyes.”
And the winner says she is going to do something nice for her father, who picked out the winning ticket at the Kruzers XVIII at 1825 Cherokee Rd. in Florence.
“My parents are going to be taken care of,” the daughter told South Carolina Education Lottery officials after collecting her prize money. “This is finally feeling real.”
The Florence player overcame odds of 1 in 720,000 to win $125,000 in the Carolina Black Ruby game. One top prize remains in the game.
Kruzers XVIII in Florence received a commission of $1,250 for selling the claimed ticket.
