COLUMBIA, SC (March 2, 2021) – A lottery ticket bought on Valentine’s Day won a Lyman couple a lovely $300,000 prize.
“We’re over the moon,” the wife told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
She says the couple had decided to forgo Valentine’s Day gifts this year. Then her husband came home from work with a surprise. He placed a scratched, winning lottery ticket in her hand. At first she wasn’t quite sure what she was looking at.
“She didn’t believe it,” the husband said.
She was holding a top-prize winning Go Green scratch-off ticket that her husband paid $10 for at the Hare Pritam 2018 Inc. at 1625 Holly Springs Rd. in Lyman. The husband says he didn’t let the winning ticket out of his sight until the couple turned it over to lottery officials in Columbia for payment.
“It was crazy,” the wife said describing how great their Valentine’s Day turned out. “I didn’t get him anything.”
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 780,000 to win $300,000 in the $10 Go Green game. Three top prizes remain.
Hare Pritam 2018 Inc. in Lyman received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
