COLUMBIA, SC (March 8, 2021) – A Columbia man was sitting on the couch when he checked his lottery ticket and discovered he won $25,000 a year for LIFE.
“I must have checked the ticket 100 times,” he said. “The next day I checked the date on it to be sure.”
His $2 Lucky for Life ticket matched the first five numbers drawn 10 - 11 - 17 - 27 - 32 but missed the Lucky Ball number “15” in the Thursday, February 18 drawing. He purchased the ticket, a quick pick, at the Two Notch Mart at 10018 Two Notch Rd. in Columbia.
Before cashing in, the winner sought advice on whether to choose the “for life” prize option or the one-time lump sum payment. He settled on the $390,000 in cash.
“I’m a lucky person,” he told lottery officials. “I play to help education.”
The winner chose the one-time cash payment of $390,000 over the $25,000 a year for LIFE prize.
The odds of winning $25,000 a year for life are 1 in 1,813,028.
For selling the winning Lucky for Life ticket, Two Notch Mart in Columbia received a $3,900 commission once it was claimed.
