COLUMBIA, SC (April 29, 2020) – A pretty lottery ticket caught a Beaufort woman’s eye. She bought it, scratched it and won $125,000.
“You never think anything like that will happen to you,” she admitted to South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
She says it’s been a long time since she spent $5 on a ticket, but The Color of Cash’s good-looking colors stood out. So, she tried her luck at the Shop And Go on the Parris Island Gtwy. in Beaufort.
On the way home from the store she called her husband and told him to meet her in the front yard. When he saw the winning ticket he joked, “Are you going to divorce me?”
The couple couldn’t be happier about winning the first top prize in the ($5) The Color of Cash game at odds of 1 in 540,000. Three more top prizes remain in the game.
Shop And Go in Beaufort received a commission of $1,250 for selling the claimed ticket.
Updated information on how to claim a prize is also available at sceducationlottery.com.
