COLUMBIA, SC (June 11, 2020) – What did an Upstate Powerball® player think when he won $2 million?
“It’s a miracle,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
He says he just happened to stop at the Murphy USA #6940 on Eighteen Mile Rd. in Central, bought a Powerball® ticket and everything worked out.
His ticket matched the first five numbers drawn on Saturday, May 9 (12, 18, 42, 48, 65 and PB; 19) to win $1 million. Because he spent the extra $1 for PowerPlay®, the prize was doubled to $2 million.
The millionaire says he plans to keep working.
“Every once in a while, I might try my luck and play Powerball®,” he added.
The Upstate Powerball® winner overcame odds of 1 in 11,688,054 to win $2 million.
Murphy USA #6940 in Central received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
