COLUMBIA, SC (January 28, 2020) – A Lexington man was home alone when he checked his Powerball® ticket and realized he’d won $1 million. And he desperately wanted to tell someone.
“I told my dog,” he said.
And when his wife got home, he told her second.
“He said he had a surprise for me, and then he showed me the ticket,” she said. “I still really don’t believe it.”
The first five numbers printed on his Powerball® ticket purchased from the Stop N Shop on N. Lake Dr. in Lexington matched those drawn Wednesday, January 22, to win $1 million (11 - 33 - 44 - 59 - 67, and Powerball® 8).
“The stress is gone,” he told lottery officials.
The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 11,688,054.
For selling the claimed ticket, Stop N Shop in Lexington received a commission of $10,000.
The estimated Powerball® jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing is $394 million.
