COLUMBIA, SC (May 22, 2019) – A Myrtle Beach tourist is going home with a $125,000 souvenir.
The North Carolina resident won the prize money playing the South Carolina Education Lottery while on vacation with her best friend.
The ladies tried their luck at the Turtle Market on Hwy 17 S. in North Myrtle Beach.
“I told the clerk to give me any $5 ticket on the rack,” the winner said.
She scratched the Power Shot Multiplier ticket outside the store and ran back inside to show her best friend, who was still at the counter picking out a ticket.
“Shut up!” her friend screamed when she heard the news.
Their vacation continued as planned. They took the ticket everywhere, even the beach.
“I seated it in an envelope and then in plastic wrap so it wouldn’t get wet,” the winner said.
She cashed in the ticket yesterday, and says she’ll definitely be back to Myrtle Beach.
“It was an awesome trip,” she said.
One top prize of $125,000 remains in the ($5) Power Shot Multiplier game, at odds of 1 in 660,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Turtle Market in North Myrtle Beach received a commission of $1,250.
