COLUMBIA, SC (June 11, 2020) – A Midlands man won the Lottery, but he didn’t know for how much.

He asked the clerk at the Circle Quick Stop on Columbia Hwy. in Leesville to take a look at the ticket. The clerk told him he won $250,000.

“You’re joking,” he said. “Give me my ticket.”

The winner told lottery officials he’s putting his plans for the winnings on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I’d like to so something for the kids in my neighborhood,” he said.

The Midlands winner overcame odds of 1 in 936,000 to win $250,000 in the ($10) King of Spades game. Two top prizes remain in the game.

Circle Quick Stop in Leesville received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.

Players can enter their non-winning King of Spades and Queen of Hearts instant tickets into the Game of Suits Second-Chance Promotion for a chance to win $500,000. Details are available at sclottery.com. Odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received.
