COLUMBIA, SC (May 9, 2019) – A North Carolina couple cashed in a $100,000 winning lottery ticket this week with plans to use the prize money to start their own business.
“I had a feeling something good was going to happen,” the boyfriend told lottery officials.
On Monday, his intuition paid off when he remembered he’d bought a Palmetto Cash 5 ticket last week in South Carolina. He found the ticket in his car’s console, and when he checked the numbers, every single one of them matched Friday’s results to win the game’s $100,000 top prize (2, 12, 13, 21, and 31).
“Wow!” he said.
He called his girlfriend to tell her his prediction had come true. But she didn’t believe him at first.
“He’s such a joker,” she said.
He sent her a picture of the winning ticket, but she dismissed that as a fake.
It wasn’t until she saw him in person with the ticket and he starting talking about his plans for the prize money that she was convinced it was real.
“A vacation would be nice,” she suggested.
