COLUMBIA, SC (January 6, 2016) – Have you got your Powerball® ticket for tonight’s $500 million jackpot drawing? Fresh off a $1 million win, a North Charleston couple has theirs.

In Powerball’s® last drawing the couple came within one number of winning the jackpot.

“And that’s O.K.,” said the husband, who’s hoping for even better results tonight.

The husband and wife say they rarely play the lottery, but a big jackpot got their attention. For $2 they took a chance in Saturday’s $334 million drawing that paid off.

“The first time I looked at the numbers on our ticket I didn’t realize we had it,” the husband said.

But he looked again, and with a yellow highlighter traced over five numbers in a row 5, 6, 15, 29 and 42 that matched. He missed the jackpot by missing the Powerball® number of 10.

The couple, affected by the October floods in South Carolina, will use the $1 million in winnings to repair damage sustained to their home.

“We have no crazy plans,” said the husband, but pointed out a $500 million windfall would be a different story.

The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 11,688,054.

For selling the claimed ticket, Kwik Stop in North Charleston received a commission of $10,000.
