COLUMBIA, SC (December 21, 2015) – “He can’t die now!” screamed the wife of a Barnwell lottery winner.

The family was at a restaurant celebrating winning $100,000, when her husband choked on a piece of meat.

“Our son had to do the Heimlich,” the wife said, of what had already been an emotional day for the couple.

Earlier, she came home crying. When her husband asked what was wrong, she showed him his Palmetto Cash 5 ticket that she had checked at a local retailer.

“We won,” she said choking back tears.

Five numbers her husband has played for 10 years – 14, 16, 25, 26 and 37 – matched those for the drawing on Friday, December 11. His birth date was part of the winning combination.

“They were tears of joy,” she explained.

The odds of winning $100,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.

For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K Store #2344 in Williston received a commission of $1,000.
