COLUMBIA, SC (August 11, 2015) – A Marion lottery winner will be among those headed back to class.
A few credits shy of graduation, a $100,000 win will go a long way towards helping her earn her degree.
“My prayers were answered,” the winner told lottery officials on Monday when claimed the first top prize in the Lottery’s new $5 Double Sided Dollar$ game.
She described sitting at the kitchen table scratching the ticket. She didn’t win anything on the front of the ticket, so she flipped the Double Sided Dollar$ card over and scratched the back, a feature unique to this game. The first number on the ticket back won her $100,000.
Deciding how to spend the prize money was easy for her.
“I love going to school,” she said.
Four top prizes of $100,000 remain in the $5 Double Sided Dollar$ game, at odds of 1 in 480,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, The Trading Post in Lake View received a commission of $1,000.
