COLUMBIA, SC (March 19, 2015) – In a stack of old lottery tickets, a Surfside Beach woman found a $100,000 winner.
“I had the tickets in my purse with some coupons,” she said of the surprise find.
She checked all of the tickets at once at a local retailer, discovering a Palmetto Cash 5 quick pick from the Murphy Express #8632 on Hwy. 17 in Surfside Beach for the February 11 drawing was a perfect match (9, 14, 23, 26 and 35).
She drove straight home to deliver the good news to her husband.
“I thought he was having a heart attack,” she said.
No heart attack for her, “I felt pretty dawg gone good,” she said.
Odds of winning $100,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.
For selling the claimed ticket, Murphy Express #8632 in Surfside Beach received a commission of $1,000.
To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.6 billion transferred to support education.
