Loyal Powerball® Player Wins $200,000 on Scratch-off

COLUMBIA, SC (October 29, 2013) – A Greenwood man’s tale of the time he came within one number of winning a $35 million Powerball® jackpot grew more interesting last week when he actually won $200,000 on a scratch-off ticket.

“I still play Powerball® every week,” he said, but a spur of the moment decision to buy a $10 Golden Spades scratch card at the Quick Pantry 27 on Montague Ave. paid off.

He can’t stop smiling and says his wife is happy too. They plan to start looking for a new house right away.

As for his kids, “it’s a secret,” he said.

So that’s one winning story he’s not sharing.

As of this release, three top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 Golden Spades game. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 520,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Quick Pantry 27 in Greenwood received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3.2 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
