COLUMBIA, SC (October 4, 2013) – When a Hardeeville man won the Lottery, he didn’t rush out and tell his friends and family about his $200,000 lottery win. Instead he sought out a trusted source to help him plan for and manage his newfound wealth.
The winner has been helped before by an agency in his community serving those with special needs. He turned to that group again for guidance with his winning Lucky Loot ticket.
“We are happy for him,” said the agency’s financial planner, who with a team will help the winner find a house with affordable payments and a suitable car. “Our goal is to make this money last for him for upwards of seven years.”
While the agency declined to be recognized to protect the winner’s privacy, they stressed there are compassionate groups working tirelessly all over the state for citizens that need help and you should never be afraid or ashamed to ask.
As for the winner, he can’t stop smiling, thankful for the win and the help he’s received.
As of this release, five top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 Lucky Loot game. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 300,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Handy Dans 3 in Ridgeland received a commission of $2,000.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3.1 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
