COLUMBIA, SC (June 1, 2012) – A Greer couple has paid their last mortgage payment.

A $200,000 lottery win financed the deal.

“This is such a lift for us,” the wife said.

The winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials her husband is the one who usually plays, but she is the one that wins. She scratched the $200,000 Hot Streak ticket in the car with her husband outside the Li’l Cricket #856 on Middleton Way in Greer. He screamed while she cried.

“You pray for something like this to happen but never expect it,” she said.

As of this release, five top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $200,000 Hot Streak game ($10). The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 480,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Li’l Cricket #856 in Greer received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.7 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
