COLUMBIA, SC (October 27, 2011) – Dinner was cold when a Greenville man got home. His excuse for being late, “I won a little money.”

Naturally, his wife asked how much?

He handed over a lottery ticket for $200,000. His tardiness was forgiven.

“Here’s what we are going to do,” she said.

The winner told lottery officials while he was eating his wife was rattling off plans for the cash. She mentioned a new roof, paying off their mortgages and helping the kids.

He interrupted her to point out his winnings were $200,000 before taxes.

“I told the guy behind the counter at Bells to give me a jackpot winning ticket,” he joked. “I need another one.”

As of this release, three top prizes of $200,000 remain in the Blue Sapphire Bucks game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 411,428.57.

Bells in Greenville received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 932,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
