COLUMBIA, SC (May 17, 2011) – Rico Bush won $100,000 on a lottery ticket his grandfather picked out.

“Grandpa got so excited his teeth fell out of his mouth,” said Bush describing the scene in the truck where the two sat scratching tickets and sipping Mountain Dew.

Grandpa zeroed in on the lottery tickets while waiting in line at the Moncks Corner BP in Johnston.

“We need to go for this one,” Grandpa said pointing to the Jeep® scratch-off ticket. “I want that Jeep®.”

Grandpa didn’t win the Jeep®.

At 73, he pictured himself driving the Jeep® around Aiken with his lawn care equipment hooked to the back. Bush wasn’t interested in the vehicle, $100,000 suits him better. Grandpa would have liked the money too.

“He tried to switch tickets with me,” said the Aiken winner.

Bush, 30, is hoping the winnings are a sign of good things to come. He interviewed with a company this week and is expecting a call any day now to find out if he got the job. In the meantime, he has been spending some quality time with his grandfather.

“I’m going to sit on these winnings,” he said.

“I still want that Jeep®,” said Grandpa.

As of this release, two top prizes of $100,000 remain in the Jeep® game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 520,000.

The Johnston retailer received $1,000, a 1 percent retailer commission when the prize was claimed.
