Columbia, SC: It’s football season and South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) players could score big in the lottery’s newest statewide second chance promotion. The SCEL is now offering players a chance to turn their non-winning tickets into Carolina and/or Clemson game tickets and other game paraphernalia.
This is the lottery’s 2nd statewide second chance promotion called, “Pigskin Playoff.” “The long-standing rivalry between these two football teams is impressive,” said Pat Koop, the SCEL’s Director of Marketing and Sales. “We’d like to see how many fans will support their university in this promotion.”
To enter into the game, players need to collect $5 worth of non-winning Carolina 5 and/or Pigskin Playoff tickets in any combination. They need to mail their entry to the South Carolina Education Lottery, PO Box 11267, Columbia, South Carolina, 29211. On the outside of the envelop players need to indicate the school of their choice: USC or Clemson.
The second chance drawings will take place on 3 “Quarterback Mondays,” September 16th, September 30th and November 4th. On each drawing, 12 semi-finalists will be chosen. Those 12 semi-finalists will win either authorized colligate tee-shirts, coach’s game day hats and shirts or 2 tickets to the pre-selected USC and/or Clemson games of the week.
The 36 semi-finalists will be entered into the grand prize drawing to be held on November 18th. Of the 36 semi-finalists, 4 people will win tailgating baskets and football helments of the school indicated on their entry. One person will win the grand prize package that includes tickets for 4 to the Carolina/Clemson game at Clemson on November 23, 2002.
Players must be 18 years or older to play the games offered by the lottery.
Since January 2002, the SCEL has returned over $92 million dollars to the State of South Carolina’s Lottery Education Fund. All of SCEL’s net proceeds go to pay for specific educational programs, including South Carolina’s HOPE, LIFE, Palmetto Fellows, National Guard; Lottery Tuition Assistance for 2 year programs within the state’s university system; a wide range of technical upgrades for state colleges and universities; school buses; local libraries and gambling addiction.
