Columbia, SC: On Monday, July 1, 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) launched new features on its website.

One of the features includes live lottery drawings streamed over the web. “This new element allows our players to see the drawing in areas where it is not currently televised,” says SCEL’s Marketing and Sales Director, Pat Koop. “We hope they will now tune in on our website.” The drawings will also be archived up to 30 days for players who missed the live drawing.

People visiting the website can also interact with the SCEL’s Lottery Express. The Lottery Express is a 2002 Ford Excursion that travels across the state and promotes awareness about the lottery and its products.

Now visitors can click on the “Lottery Express” icon, move their cursor across the map and find out where the Lottery Express has been, where it’s going and request at visit in their hometown.

“This is what the lottery is all about,” says Tara Robertson, SCEL’s Public Relations/Special Events Manager. “We want to bring South Carolina’s lottery into small towns and their neighborhoods.”

Web visitors can also now search the website to find out how students will benefit from Lottery funds. The SCEL has linked up with the Commission on Higher Education and the SC Technical College System to inform the public about educational opportunities available to South Carolina students. Just click on the “How Education Wins” icon, and you will fine links to their websites.

The SCEL hopes the new features will heighten people’s awareness about the lottery and the opportunities that exists.
