5/22/2002 12:00:00 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (May 23, 2002) – The Lottery Express, a 2002 Ford Excursion, is on the road again – this time promoting the June 17 start of the Carolina 5 game. The Lottery Express will travel around the state stopping at various retail locations from Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14.

Carolina 5 is the second numbers game offered by the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL). The uniqueness of this game is that it offers a top prize of $100,000 taxes paid. “If the player wins, the lottery will write them a check for $100,000 dollars,” says SCEL Director of Marketing and Sales, Pat Koop. “No other lottery has offered their players this kind of pay out.”

Unlike Pick 3, players can choose five unique numbers ranging from 1 to 36. If their numbers are drawn, they are a winner regardless of the combination.

There will be one drawing a week, held on Fridays at 10:59pm on WLTX in Columbia, WCBD in Charleston, WPDE/WMMB in Florence- Myrtle Beach and WSPA in Spartanburg/Greenville.

The Lottery Express will depart from Columbia daily and make stops in several locations throughout the day before returning to Columbia each evening.

The Lottery Express begins day one, June 10, in Columbia and will travel east towards Santee, Holly Hill and Hanahan.
