COLUMBIA, SC (January 23, 2023) – A Lowcountry Powerball® player spent an extra $1 to win 10 times more cash.
His would be $50,000 prize multiplied to $500,000 when the PowerPlay® multiplier selected was a “10”. PowerPlay® is a game add on that costs an additional $1 and “10” is the rarest and the biggest multiplier possible.
“I’ve been playing for years,” the winner said. “Nobody was more stunned that me to win that much.”
He purchased the Powerball® ticket, a quick pick, while grocery shopping at the Publix grocery store at 1575 Old Trolley Rd. in Summerville.
He won in the Powerball® drawing on November 26. His ticket matched four of the first five numbers drawn and the Powerball® number (15, 30, 47, 50, 51 and PB: 3).
The winner, who does not wish to be identified, has already moved into a new home.
The odds of winning $500,000 playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 10X multiplier being selected are 1 in 43 when the jackpot is $150 million or less.
For selling the claimed ticket, Publix Super Markets #483 in Summerville received a commission of $5,000.
The estimated jackpot for Monday’s Powerball® drawing is $502 million.
