Upstate Man Picks Up Dinner and a Lotto Ticket worth $250K

COLUMBIA, SC (February 1, 2023) An Upstate man brought home dinner and a lottery ticket for dessert. He won a sweet $250,000.

“It was a complete shock,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

On the way to pick up a bite to eat, he stopped at the OM Food Mart on Hwy. 153 in Easley for a Powerball® ticket. With his $5 in change, he bought a scratch-off ticket too.

At first glance, he thought he won $50,000 on his $5 scratch-off, then he read the instructions on the Giant Jumbo Bucks ticket and realized it was five times that amount, a $250,000 payday.

The winner plans to give to his church and hire a contractor to do some work around the house.

“I’m so happy,” he said.

The winner overcame odds of 1 in 960,000 to leave four top prizes of $250,000 remaining in the $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks game.

OM Food Mart in Easley received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.
