COLUMBIA, SC (May 6, 2022) – A Lowcountry couple is keeping a $300,000 secret from almost everyone.
“The bank knows,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
The husband deposited a check for the prize money and then paid off his house.
“We pinched ourselves,” the couple said when they scratched off the top prize win on a ticket purchased at the Refuel on Ironclad Alley in Mount Pleasant. “We still can’t believe it.”
The husband overcame odds of 1 in 1,000,000 to leave three top prizes of $300,000 remaining in the Retro Riches game.
Refuel in Mount Pleasant received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
