COLUMBIA, SC (April 15, 2019) – The wait is over for a Beaufort man, who after more than two decades of playing the same lottery numbers finally strikes it rich.
On April 7, his numbers were lucky ones, winning him $100,000 in the Palmetto Cash 5 game.
“I didn’t even need my ticket to know that I’d won,” he told lottery officials when he saw the results.
He’d memorized his five numbers 2, 5, 17, 26, and 27, a combination of family birth dates and his wedding anniversary.
And while he plans to stick with his sentimental numbers, his family thinks he should reconsider.
“I’ve had those numbers for more than 20 years,” he said. “That’s a long time.”
The odds of winning $100,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.
For selling the claimed ticket, Enmark Stations #845 in Beaufort received a commission of $1,000.
