Lottery Millionaire: “I wish everyone could win $1 million.”

COLUMBIA, SC (November 12, 2014) – A Greenwood man won $1 million in the Lottery this week and wishes everyone could experience that joy.

“It has been very emotional,” he said. “I was born broke and thought I’d die broke.”

But a lottery ticket he gave his wife to scratch changed that. He told lottery officials he was in the kitchen when his wife started screaming. She showed him and their kids the $1,000,000 Fortune ticket. The family hugged and cried.

But life has returned to normal, since cashing in the ticket.

“I’m back at work today,” the millionaire said.

But his retirement planning and kids college funds are taken care of.

“I’m going to make it go a long way,” he said. “I still can’t believe it.”

The Greenwood winner overcame odds of 1 in 1.4 million to win the last top prize in the $1,000,000 Fortune game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Hot Spot #2009 in Greenwood received a commission of $10,000.

Non-winning $1,000,000 Fortune tickets can be entered online or by mail for a drawing to win a $1 million prize. For complete details, visit sceducationlottery.com.
