COLUMBIA, SC (September 30, 2014) – A North Carolina woman’s actions give new meaning to the phrase “walking around money,” after she hid a $100,000 winning lottery ticket in her shoe.
And she continued wearing it.
“I carried the ticket in my shoe all weekend,” the Boiling Springs, NC, winner confessed to lottery officials after cashing in the Big Winning Numbers ticket bought from the My Lil Store on E. Cherokee St. in Blacksburg.
It was actually the store clerk who suggested the $5 ticket.
“I was hyperventilating,” the winner admitted when a six-figure payout was revealed.
She’s treated herself to a bit of shopping, complete with a new pair of shoes.
The North Carolinian claimed the last $100,000 prize in the Big Winning Numbers game. Odds of winning the top prize were 1 in 480,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, My Lil Store in Blacksburg received a commission of $1,000.
