COLUMBIA, SC (February 18, 2015) – If the new truck parked in his driveway doesn’t tip off the neighbors, it won’t be long before they know what most in Pageland already do, one of their own is a lottery winner.
“Everybody knows,” the $100,000 Black Diamond Riches winner told lottery officials.
He says word spread quickly, too quickly inside the Town and County Grocery on S. Pearl St. in Pageland where he scratched the ticket.
“This one told that one, and then they told somebody else, and on and on,” he said describing the scene in the store.
The winner took the win and the congratulations all in stride.
“I’m a perfect specimen of health, so I was o.k.,” he laughed.
And while his present car has given him good service, he’s looking forward to a newer model.
“My car has over 300,000 miles,” he confessed. “I quit changing the oil at 250,000 and it kept right on going.”
He’s hoping he’ll be that lucky again, referring to the car and his next lottery ticket.
One top prize of $100,000 remains in the Black Diamond Riches game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 480,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Town and Country Grocery in Pageland received a commission of $1,000.
