COLUMBIA, SC (June 2, 2015) – A father gave his son a $200,000 winning lottery ticket.
“Unknowingly,” emphasized the mother.
The parents were vacationing at the beach and brought their son, who lives in Scranton, back a $10 lottery ticket to scratch.
The souvenir brought the family to tears, tears of joy for the son. The parents cried for different reasons.
“The most I’ve ever won is $50,” admitted the father, who had a 50/50 shot at winning the $200,000 for himself.
The dad bought two $200,000 Taxes Paid tickets from the Murphy #8663 station on Hwy. 17 in Garden City. The one ticket he scratched didn’t win. The ticket he gave his son netting a check for $200,000 with the Lottery paying the taxes.
With the prize money, the son is paying off his student loans.
“And I’ll buy you lunch,” the winner told his folks.
Three top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $200,000 Taxes Paid game. Odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 696,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Murphy #8663 in Garden City received a commission of $2,941.18.
