COLUMBIA, SC (July 9, 2015) – Tuesday was William Fowler’s lucky day.
A South Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off the Mauldin retiree picked out at the Wilco Hess #920 on W. Butler St. in Mauldin won him $200,000.
“I buy a ticket every day for fun,” Fowler told lottery officials, adding this big win isn’t going to change that.
He says his persistent play won him $200 a few times and $9,000 once, pocket change in comparison to his now six-figure payday.
“I slept like a baby last night,” he said.
As for his plans, Fowler is a practical man. He’s taking care of some house repairs and saving the rest.
Two top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 Golden Key game, at odds of 1 in 600,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, the retailer received a commission of $2,000.
