COLUMBIA, SC (May 6, 2014) – Pete Hulett didn’t buy the Honda ATV parked in his garage, he won it from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
“I’m loving it,” he said.
A losing Honda scratch-off ticket he entered in a second-chance drawing that captured more than 87,000 entries won the Spartanburg resident the new Honda Rancher 4x4 ATV.
Hulett picked up his prize from Palmetto Cycle Center on 125 Simuel Rd. in Spartanburg.
The timing was perfect. Hulett and his wife were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary.
His wife hasn’t ridden the ATV yet. Hulett jokes she’s petite and needs a stool to get on it. But Hulett has taken it for a spin around the back yard.
He’s had offers to sell it.
“This is something that came to me that I didn’t expect,” Hulett said. “And I’m keeping it.”
Hulett was one of five South Carolina Education Lottery winners selected to win a Honda ATV in the second of three drawings. A total of 15 ATVs will be won, all built at the Honda plant in Timmonsville, SC.
Five more ATV winners will be announced on Tuesday, July 15. Enter non-winning Honda tickets online or by mail by Tuesday, July 8, to be eligible.
