Cell Phone Photo Reveals Wedgefield Mom’s $150,000 Secret

COLUMBIA, SC (March 4, 2015) – A cell phone photo taken by a Wedgefield woman of her $150,000 winning ticket let slip a secret she was keeping from the kids.

Mom’s secret was out when her teenage daughter asked to borrow the phone.

“I begged her to not say anything,” the winner said.

No one knew she’d won the top prize on the $5 Heritage Classic Foundation scratch-off, not even the clerk that sold her the ticket at Battens of Wedgefield on Hwy 261.

“I wanted to scream,” she admitted when it happened, but took the photo as a memento.

She’s considering deleting the image now and taking her teenage daughter shopping.

Two top prizes of $150,000 remain in the Heritage Classic Foundation game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 520,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Battens of Wedgefield II Inc. in Wedgefield received a commission of $1,500.
