COLUMBIA, SC (July 17, 2013) – Wylie Craig has a seat waiting for him at the Springdale C.

He’s a regular at the convenience store on Springdale Rd. in Rock Hill. He takes his seat, sips coffee, socializes and scratches a few lottery tickets there. Last Friday he spent $5 on a ticket and won $125,000.

Store patrons couldn’t believe it. Neither could Craig.

“It was a shocker for sure,” said the retired truck driver.

He showed off the Giant Jumbo Bucks ticket to a friend at the store, pointing out the winning numbers and the corresponding $125,000 prize.

“I must be a winner,” he declared.

It wasn’t long before everyone at the station knew Craig won, and he decided it was time to leave. He drove to his daughter’s, knocked on her door and told her he won the lottery and needed to go to Columbia.

“He was real calm,” she said seated with her dad at the Lottery’s Columbia claims office.

Wylie, who hadn’t stopped smiling since he won, chuckled: “Yep, I’m as cool as a cucumber.”

As of this release, five top prizes of $125,000 remain in the $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 495,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Springdale C in Rock Hill received a commission of $1,250.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.1 BILLION transferred to support education.
