COLUMBIA, SC (December 8, 2014) – A spur of the moment lottery purchase won a Florence retiree $100,000.
He stopped at the Kangaroo Express #3152 on Palmetto St. to fill up his car and, as luck would have it, his wallet too.
“I’m an old man, I’m a happy man and I’m a grateful man,” he said of the surprise win.
He won on a $5 Diamonds & Pearls ticket he scratched in his car parked at the pumps. He saw $100,000 and had to take off his cap and open the car door to get some air and cool off.
“I almost forgot to pump gas,” he said.
The Florence man claimed the first $100,000 prize in the Diamonds & Pearls game, leaving three top prizes remaining. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 540,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Kangaroo Express #3152 in Florence received a commission of $1,000.
