COLUMBIA, SC (April 10, 2025) – On the way home from work a Midlands man pocketed a $500,000 payday.
He brought home a $10 scratch-off from the Irmo Mini Mart on Lake Murray Blvd. and scratched off a top prize win.
“I was at a loss for words,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials, describing his reaction to the half-a-million-dollar windfall. “It stuns you.”
His family was equally surprised when they found out he was spending the prize money on them.
“It’s been life changing for us,” he said.
Odds of winning $500,000 in the The Big $pin game are 1 in 1,500,000. Two more top prizes remain in the game.
Irmo Mini Mart in Irmo received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
